Critical Reviews in Toxicology

Editor-in-Chief: Roger O. McClellan, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

From subjects that form the advancing frontiers of toxicology to those that make up the core of some of the most complex and intractable problems in toxicology, Critical Reviews in Toxicology covers the field. The journal provides objective analyses of crucial topics related to the mechanisms, responses, and assessments of toxicants. Articles include coverage of commodity and specialty chemicals such as formaldehyde, acrylonitrile and pesticides; pharmaceutical agents of all types; consumer products such as macronutrients and food additives; and environmental agents such as ozone and dioxin. Toxicological responses reviewed include effects from subtle physiological alterations to overt toxicity manifested in major systems, e.g. respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, urogenital, musculoskeletal, nervous, hematopoietic, and immunological. Particular attention is given to cancer and developmental effects as responses of special societal concern. Mechanisms of action at all levels of biological organization are addressed—from macromolecules and cells up to integrated organisms and populations of laboratory animals and people.
